Document Size: The paper size of the document you are scanning. Images scanned with a higher DPI will be sharper, but the file size will be larger and use more resources during scanning. Color pictures are usually set to 300 dpi or higher. Text documents are usually set to 100 dpi. Resolution (DPI): The amount of information scanned per square inch. Scan Type: The program utilizes more resources when scanning the same document in color compared to black and white. Since all scanned pages have to be saved in the computer's memory first, the maximum pages you can scan is determined by the scan settings and the computer's available resources. When Scanning using Tiff or PDF format, ALL scanned pages are saved in the memory then processed into one file. NOTE: When scanning using Jpeg format each page is created as a separate image file, therefore consuming less system resources during the scan. You can use other file formats, but file size and quality may vary. File Type: We recommend using JPEG or TIFF format file format.
